unusual lighting circuit

Postby rorkers » Tue Mar 27, 2007 9:14 am

hi - could anyone help with the following:

i want to add a new light on an existing lighting circuit - i have traced the first light on the ring but have discovered that it feeds 3 separate lights as spurs (there are an additional 3 lights on the circuit including a spur ).

Is this legal and safe? and can a spur feed another spur?

I have checked the projects but have found nothing that fits.

Simply Build It

Lights not on Ring ie end does not go back to con.unit like a power socket ring, all lighting circuits loop- in and out and are called radial or tree wired.
normally at each light there will be three cables. one in from mains , one taking L& N to next light one going to switch it is quite normal and ok to spur off one to another as long as circuit not over loaded, nornal practice no more than 10 lights per circuit.
