I want to hang a wash basin on an existing internal plastered stud wall in my bathroom.

The building is just 20 yrs old and has plasterboard walls made with metal studs (no wood). Is there a way I can securely fix a semi-pedestal basin to it?

I would like to avoid using a coventional full pedestal if posible.

Unless you can form a reinforcing framework in the wall to support the basin I would not recommend hanging it direct on the wall.
