I am building an pitched roof extension on the back of my house i am ready to put my wall plate on and need a 6.1m length but the longest i can get hold of is 6m can it be put on in two sections? and if so what type of joint should i cut and wear?

Your local builders merchant should be able to order the longer length you need. If not make a halving joint somewhere towards the middle between rafters.
