What Roof Slates are These on our Council House

by Charlie7000 » Wed Jul 13, 2016 1:07 pm

Hi. I'm buying a house that was council built between 1935 and 1946. The roof looks like slate but the slates look different to standard slate. Can anyone tell me what kind of slates they are please?

I meant what do you think they are made of by looking please? I thought at first they would be real slate but someone has suggested they could be concrete asbestos slates and not the real thing. As the roof is 80 years old it might make a difference as to when I need to think about re-doing it and how much extra it would cost.

If anyone can help answer please, it's a bit urgent! Supposed to be moving soon. Welsh brickie - do you mean you think it's just standard slate? They look a bit different at the edges. If it is cement asbestos slate how much extra cost would be involved for a new roof?
