wiring a light from a plug socket

    Postby teetee » Mon Jul 09, 2007 2:20 pm

    any help please
i was wondering if it would be possible to wire a under cabinet unit strip light from my plug socket
ie: run a spur from the socket to the fused switch and then the lights from the fused switch
also what wire would i need for the spur is 2.5 twin and earth ok
and also can i bury the strip light flex or would i have to use trunking

    thanks
    Tee

    Hi TeeTee
your part P reg. leckie can run as you say from skt to FCU in 2.5, then he would ideally run 1.0 mm sraight up to mini JB under cupboard to join to flex, the cables can all be buried, OK

    Thanks for your help sparx
    but one more small question
if i don't use a mini junction box can it be possible to wire the lights directly into the switched fcu but without burying the flex and using trunking instead because as i understand you cannot bury flex

    HiTT
yes that would be fine, I recently found in the 'Big & Quick' shed some very thin self adhesive mini trunking, just right,
