Worcester greenstar boiler with lots of bubbling noises

    Postby gadgers » Thu Jan 01, 2009 7:39 pm

Worcester greenstar boiler with lots of bubbling noises but not producing any heat, any ideas?
green pilot light tries to stay on but goes off hence no heat, turn hot tap on full and light stays on but no hot water, sounds like a lot off boiling bubbles inside boiler but it might be just bubbling water, reset light comes on and then just does the cycle as above again.

I had the same problem yesterday. Called Worcester and they said that the condensing pipe (plastic pipe running from the boiler to the drain) may be frozen and surely enough it was (there was ice at the tip of the pipe). They said that the boiler will start working when the ice melts, which also it did this morning. Worcested advise that the pipe should be insulated. I am going to put some insulation on today to stop it from freezing tonight.
