Changed over what I thought was a like for like 2 gang light switch controlling 2 lights, now I cannot get both lights to come on at the same time Wiring in switch box is 2 grey cables having 4 wires in each cable red, yellow, blue and earth, Any help would be appreciated
You have obviously made an error in changing your light switch. Since there is no definitive colour scheme for light switches, the best solution would be to test everything to establish what it does, to that amends I suggest you get a competent person to visit site and diagnose and correct the error.
A competent person is a person who has had enough training and experience or knowledge to either show you how the job should be done or to do the job for you. (Either way the job will be done safely.)
Is this just 2 way switching, by the sound of your description, it looks like a centre switch out of three (intermediate switch) As there is no live switch wires(red & black) if that is the case, you will have to look at the other switches where the cable ends are & connect the cables the same as that switch.
Chriscba, Yes thanks this is a 2 way switch with no other switches in the room this is working but only to get lights on independently cannot get bot on at the same time
chriscba, There is a Red live to the L terminal on one of the switches with the other Red going to the other L L1 & L2 on both switches have the Blue & Yellow connected respectively on both switches. Regards.

Keys How can you have a 2 way switch in a room with only 1 switch? the idea of 2 way switching is you turn the light on through one door & turn it off at another. Do you mean a 2 gang switch, are there 2 lights operated by the 2 gang switch. If that's the case, don't know why the switch has been wired in 3 core cable, are you sure there isn't another 2 core cable in there somewhere.
Are you sure there isn't a pull cord switch somewhere, or a switch in a corner that has been built over it. Those 3 core cables have got to go to another switch somewhere.
