Advice Needed on Installing a Steel Handrail in the Garden

by Peter-J » Tue Apr 28, 2015 1:12 pm

Hi there, first time poster but im looking for some help.

I am setting a handrail up for my Mother in the garden, I have found this DIY handrail

http://simplifiedbuilding.co.uk/store/k ... -3708.html

It says it is made from steel, does that mean it might rust? would I need to paint it do you think and if so, what kind of paint would be best?

sorry for all the newbie questions!

Hi Peter-J

The steel is galvanized. That means it has a zinc coating, and will not rust. It will not need painting, or any other treatment.

Thanks for the reply Proptech! Wow really? I was thinking it would look better black, I was thinking of using sprayed Hammerite, do you think that would be ok?
