I was thinking about building my own sofa bed however, I don't want to build the classic one where you would normally fold it in half to form a sofa and unfold for a bed. However, I would like sofa backboard (like where you would normally rest your back on) that would be able to slide up and down beside the bed. I would like to be able to lift it up and for it to lock in place next to the bed so I can sit on the bed and have a cushioned backboard but also when I slide the backboard back down, I would like it to be flush with the top of the mattress so it kind of acts like an extra bit for the mattress. It doesn't need to be added onto an already existing bed and can be built from scratch so suggest the most efficient and practical designs and ideas you have please!
