My builder has used OSB for the exterior wall of one of the bedrooms (we were expecting brick). The wall is to be rendered on but due to delays it has been left out in the open for over 10 months, being hit with a lot of English rain. I’d appreciate any advise on if the boards can be left out for such a long time, and if I should be asking for them to be replaced before the render is applied? Thanks a lot.
Hi css27 If the interior grade of OSB has been used then probably best to ask for it to be replaced. If an exterior grade is in place and it is still sound then a metal mesh should be fixed to it for the render to be applied to. Therefore surface degradation is not critical. Regards S
