Automatic control of individual radiators

Post by cruachan » Sat Oct 11, 2008 3:23 am

I have an oil guzzling boiler, and shut down individual rads [when I remember] during periods when the rooms are out of use e.g. bedrooms, dining room etc.
This is a chore and I do not always remember.
Does there exist, an automatic, individual control, which would shut down/restart, individual radiators ?

Do you have thermostatic radiator valves fitted? I have never seen any individual control except via a centrally operated manifold but the cost and installation is prohibitive.

Auto rad controls

Thanks Plumbbob.
Ah well, at least I can stop searching.
It is a rich field for an inventor to make his first million !
Access to a 13A socket to supply power {for a time switch} and a simple on/off valve, to replace the thermostatic valve, would suffice. It would not even need the expense of a motorised valve.
I would do it myself, but I am too busy researching a cure for a poor memory, which makes me forget to turn off unused radiators !
