Banging and rumbling pipes when combi boiler starts

by MJM0099 » Tue May 27, 2008 8:21 am

When the combi boiler kicks on in a morning there is banging and rumbling through the pipes, which ceases when it sounds like water then runs through the system. Then this is repeated when the the boiler kicks in agaisnt.

Feels like some sort of air lock

Any suggestions

Check system pressure and vent all radiators.

Also check auto airvent on boiler is open - not sure why but people/engineers tend to close these they're meant to be left open so air can escape.
