Birds Pulling Cement Away From Ridge Tiles

by collectors » Fri Sep 14, 2018 8:33 am

Has any come across birds like crows/jackdaws/rooks chipping away at the mortar on ridge tiles?. We had a new extension about 5 years ago & the roofer seamed to do a real nice job. We have Norfolk pan tiles "the deep wavy ones" & when the roofer did the ridge tiles he set up a type of metal jig to keep all the ridge tiles nice & straight & all looked great when finished. I have now lost about 20% of the fill in mortar on one side "the sunny side" with birds getting at it. Now, the mortar that has slid down into the gutter is not a week mix & seems to be a strong mix. What i am a bit worried about is the roof leaking, or should the underfelt stop this.
