Birdsmouth Rafter to Ridge Beam Joining in Single Storey Extension

Post by SamDIY » Wed Aug 26, 2015 8:43 pm

Hi. New to here and I am in the midst of my biggest diy project. A single storey extension with 24 degree pitched roof with a vaulted ceiling.

My drawings show the rafters butted against the ridge beam as usual. But i feel the small angle at the top due to pitch, it would be best to birds mouth cut rafter and sit them on to of beam. Is that a better idea or bad?
