Blocked foul water gully Drainage and wastage systems and plumbing help, advice and answers

My mother has a blocked foul water gully on her terraced property. There is no manhole, I can't rod the gully because of the gully bend. Any suggestions?

Caustic Soda ?
I've got a similar problem and i'm going to take a two pronged approach tonight.I'm going to use a toilet bowl wavin adapter in the shore to plunger it but i'm also going to give it some caustic soda in boiling water :?
