When replacing boiler with a combi is the tradesman supposed to remove the old tanks etc from shared loft space.

sometimes the tanks are bigger than the loft hatch, if the tank has been in since the house was built, if he could of got the tank out of the loft he would of - most of them just for the scrap value. Plus the black sludge in the tank can be hard to remove, if it gets on carpets its impossible to clean up, so some leave them in rather than take a chance.
