Building an Office in a Warehouse

by gilmarro » Fri Jan 13, 2017 11:38 am

We have a warehouse for our business but it has no office which makes it virtually impossible to work in in Winter due to the cold so have decided to build one - being a reasonably competent and determined amateur. At this stage I'm just trying to get an idea of materials required and get some costs done.

If it's ok I'd like to pick everyone's brains. We would only require to build two sides as they would attach to the external walls on the other two sides. So, an L-shaped structure with one long solid side and one shorter side with a door.

My starter questions are:

What is the best height to build? We don't need it to be unusually high so I'm guessing standard height.

What size and type of timber for the frame?

What size of anchors to secure to floor and existing concrete walls?

What are the best joints and fixings for joining the frame?

Many thanks
