building regs on a porch

hi there i hope you can help me..i wish to build a porch on the my house but i am unsure about the regulations i must follow..can i do it all in brick with some windows and a door or do i have to do some brick with a plastic frame.how far out can i build the porch and how high can i go..i would be very grateful for any reply...cheers nicko

you usually dont need planning permission for a porch unless its over 3sq metres,or you are in a conservation area.BUT check with building control first,They are usually very helpfull
