Building Sleeper Walls for Suspended Ground Floor

by zeemax_mini » Mon Nov 26, 2018 1:54 pm

Hey guys,

I'm renovating a grade 2 listed terrace which had the ground floor joists laid straight onto the soil, which unsurprisingly have all rotted throughout (and previous owner poured concrete over the joist ends rather than repairing, see pic) . I've removed the old timber, and my thinking is to lower the earth level to provide ventilation (together with an air brick or two), then lay shallow strip foundations for sleeper walls at either end and one/two in the middle depending on span. Just wondering if I'm on the right track and if anyone had any hints or tips?

Cheers!

Dom
