Ceiling pull switch wiring

by delphi2009 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:26 pm

Hi

Can anyone help me with the wiring for this? I have 3 wires
Red - Live I think
Black - Neutral?
Green/Yellow - Earth?

The connectors on the pull switch are marked COM, 1WAY, 2WAY and there is also a seperate connector on the rose which isn't marked. Can anyone tell me which cable goes where?!!

Thank you in advance :)

delphi2009,
Red=Com
Black=L1
Green/Yellow= earth terminal(should be marked with a symbol that has a number of horizontal parallel lines decreasing in size from top to bottom and central vertical straight line beneath these).

Red to COM
Black ( which isn't neutral but a switch live and should be marked with red/brown sleeving or tape, but often wasn't) to L1/L2, it doesnt matter.
Earth green/yellow to the unmarked(dummy terminal)
