I have a boiler and a hot water cylinder that seem to cover my heating and hot water together. I've never quite figured out how it all hangs together but has worked fine for the 2 years I've been in this house.
Recently, when the hot water is programmed to turn on, the CH is activated aswell. The CH themostat does not control the heat in the radiators in this scenario either, so even if the CH thermostat is set low the radiators get very, very hot.
Thanks Steve! I noticed a leak from, what I now know as, the motorised valve a few hours after posting.
The whole unit was replaced by my plumber a few minutes ago and all seems to be working again.
