change pipe size

by gtee » Tue Jan 27, 2009 8:52 pm

just got rid of emersion heater as we now have a combi condenser boiler in its place , as the old system used 22 mm pipe for the hot water for gravityfeed would it be better if i now changed this to 15mm,(only about 6 meters to change) just wonderd if it would be better as smaller pipe =faster hotter water to taps..

Yes. Plus less wastage of hot water (22mm contains twice the volume of 15mm, so when hot water gets to the tap, you have displaced twice the amount of cold water to get it there, plus have a pipe full of double the amount of heated water in it which will go to waste as it cools down).
