Changing a pendant to a new light with no earth connection

by cramegap » Fri Nov 09, 2007 12:01 pm

Hi,

I have just bought a new light from Ikea and want to put it up in my lounge. I thought this would be a straight forward job; just removing the existing pendant and replacing it with the new light, however I have come across a problem.

The current pendant is set up with the usual L, N and E but the new light only has a connector for L and N. Where would I put the E wire which is coming out of the ceiling ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Cramegap

All you need to do is connect the live and neutral to your ligth fitting and put the earth in a bit of connector block then put some insulation tape over the connector block. You should then get a leccy in to give you a minor works certificate
