Cheap way to Soundproof at Least a bit the Ceiling

by mrorange1 » Wed Oct 16, 2019 8:37 pm

Hi all,

I've lived in my studio flat for 4 years. I've just had someone new move in above me and each morning they have woken me up to stomping feet. I understand we all need to move around but this takes the biscuit. I need not set my alarm when they can wake me up. It is thud after thud after thud. I contacted the landlord and asked if carpet is fitted and i expected a no but he said yes... I can't see how someone can make such a noise. furthermore they have just ignored my polite request to consider those below... landlord doesn't want to know and I cannot afford to move elsewhere and don't see why I should.
Therefore, does anyone know a cheap way to absorb the thuds above me. I have read about acoustic strips to go on the ceiling and such. i would happy cover the ceiling with something and worry about it when i move out. i need my sleep and this noise is having a negative impact on me. any cheap solutions are welcome.
