Cold Bitumen

by trogre » Sun Jun 22, 2008 5:32 pm

I recently re-felted my front door canopy and used Wicks Cold Bitumen.
I last used this same product about 15 years ago and then you had to get it out of the tin with a trowel ,it stuck very well.
However these days it is very runny and I had 2 problems :-
One was you had to wait anything from 15 to 60 mins for it to tack off, which when laying the main length of cap sheet it took ages to be able to go onto the second strip.

Two, when doing the I think what is called the drip batens where you bring a
piece of capsheet over a harboard former and onto the main sheet , also because it was very runny & thin I had trouble getting it to stick.

Does anyone know of a Cold Bitumen Adhesive in UK which is thick where you have to trowel it out rather than the runny stuff.

Thank you
