CONCRETE LINTEL

hi,
this is my first post in this forum and hope somebody can help?

im in the process of building my garage and im at the stage where i need a lintel.
basically i need a 11ft lintel and would like to make it my self using concrete.
what i need to know is what mix i will need..also is there any particular type of reinforcing steel ..

Steve lintels are required to be reinforced with steel, the size of which must be specified in the building regulations as must the type & size of lintel you use. This is not a DIY job without the correct specification from an architect or building inspector. Once you have that and you have learned how to tie steel properly you could carry on.
