Copper Pipe issue

by davidstephens100 » Sat Mar 29, 2008 5:06 pm

Can anybody help, i have had a leak in my water system and all of my pipe work is under the floors in my home. All of the pipe work under the ground has gone black where the copper has been sat in water should these be replaced...

Thanks ALDA

the reason i have asked this question is because this is the second time this has happened in four years and the chaos each time is a nightmare. The insurance company are now involved so I will also see what they have to offer.

thanks again

David

If the copper pipe comes into contact with cement the acid turns the copper to a dark colour and can over a period of years rot the pipe. The pipe should allways have some form of protection . E.G. lagging, denzo tape etc
