Coving size match

Post by diymum » Thu Mar 05, 2009 9:06 am

I have a piece of missing coving to replace due to reorganising a door opening. I do not know whic bit of existing coving to measure in order to find a match. Is it the diagonal or the straight edge? It easures 3.75 inches on the straight edge and marginally under 5 inches n the diagonal.
Locl diy suppliers do not seem to have that size.

Coving comes in two sizes. 100mm and 127mm. 3.75" is too small for 100mm but 127mm and 5" are spot on the same size.

Its a reasonable expectation therefore that you want 127mm coving. You won't get less than a 2m length but heres the real issue. The curve of the profile will vary from manufacturer to manufacture so you may not get an exact match.

So KBs advice to make a template is a very good plan.

Cheers
