CRAMPED CONNECTIONS

Post by SP4RKS » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:23 pm

I have found several ceiling roses with 2 additional connectors squeezed into the ceiling rose would it be possible to install choc boxes with connectors before the ceiling rose? 3 are upstairs(loft access)5 are on ground floor (in ceiling void). It would not be breaking any regs would it?

Not a problem providing they are accessible for inspection and testing.

providing the connections are accessable and maintainable there is no problem. If the cables are or could be under tension (i.e. being pulled or kicked (such as the ones in the loft) they should be in a suitable enclosure which will prevent tension being applied direct to the connections, such as a chock box, screwfix item 46538 or better still use some push in connectors.
