Damp ground in cavity under house

Post by SScyner » Sat Oct 03, 2009 8:01 pm

Hi can anybody help.

We have noticed salt deposits on inside wall in area around air bricks. Have been under our bungalow (has quite a large cavity under floorboards which have no insulation) to check out where it might be coming from and found the ground is very damp in places coming from the outside walls. Should we try to treat the walls, and with what, or is there something else we should be looking at to try to control the damp we have in our bungalow?

SScyner,
Make sure all airbricks are clear ie there is a clear passage for air through both the inner and outer walls.
If cavity wall insulation has been fitted see if this has blocked the airbricks.
end

Hi

Have checked that and all airbricks are fine. Can you suggest anything else?
