Defrosting car locks/ windows in winter weather

While not really the right place for this I thought it would be handy to pass on anyway (No general section).

With all this heavy frost and snow, I thought some people would find it handy to use an extension cord and a hairdryer to defrost car locks and windows (If you can't open shutters at work then a heat gun would be fine but is too intense for windscreens and car paintwork - however if some genius could turn down the power, then it would be even handier than a hairdryer because it wouldn't need to be plugged in and could be sold as a commercial product: I'm an ideas man but cack-handed, so don't ask me to do it).
