I have just replaced my kitchen light switch with a dimmer switch, the switch worked six 20w low voltage recessed lights, when I turned the dimmer up I heard a clink and now three of the bulbs dont work? do you think that there is two transformers, and would the dimmer cause one to blow?

It's more likely that most LV lighting says "Not Suitable For Dimmer Switches".
