Distance of en-suite from soil stack

Postby Ali-G » Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:43 pm

We want to build an en-suite adjacent to our first floor bathroom.
We have had conflicting advice on what we can do about drainage. In particular the length of runs to the existing stack.
Who do we go to for a definitive answer on what we can and can't do. We've looked at Part H of the building regs but it doesn't answer all our questions.
We have drawings of what we want. We just want to know if it's legal. And if not, what we need to do.
Many thanks in anticipation of some help!

Simply Build It

There seem to be nothing in water regulations guide to cover this.

I have look at:

Part H and I of the building regulations

Ventilation of sanitary pipe work is cover by BS.EN 12056

BS 5572 code of practice for Sanitary Pipe work

It’s not very clear

I can tell you that I have never install one longer that 1 meter.

If depend on your home, in some case its better to use a Sanflow in others an internal soil stack.

But you do have a way to find your answers, all you need to is; ring your local town hall and ask to talk to a building inspector and he should know the answer.

Thanks for the reply.

Looks like we'll just have to give the inspector a call.

Thanks anyway for doing the research.

I'll post back on their advise as this may help someone else.
