Earthing bath

by Robo » Thu Dec 06, 2007 2:35 pm

Hello,

I have just bought a property. A new bath was installed before purchase. I've noticed under the bath that the earthing wire from the previous bath is simply sitting (with no bracketing) against the new bath tub (which is non-metal) and then runs under the floor boards to the earth I assume. Clearly it's not meant to be like this!!

- Is the earthing wire meant to be connected to all of the copper pipes under the bath?

- Is it unnecessary for the earthing to touch the bath tub itself (rather just be connected to the copper pipes)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Robo,
It should be connected across the copper piping or bath taps.
