Since my post lastweek on what shower to go for, my electric shower decided to go funny. It seems to be blowing the fuse/MCB and the RCD. The shower is a Triton 10.5kw, has been installed with a dedicated 10mm supply cable with 40amp fuse/MCB and an external RCD unit above the fusebox. The shower has worked faultless for the last 2 years up until lastweek. However, when I turn the fuse and RCD back on the shower work normal for 5mins and then the fuse/RCD trip again. Any ideas as to what causing this, or is this just a sign that the shower is on its way out?????? :?
If the shower is tripping the RCD, it indicates a serious electrical fault which could in certain circumstances be lethal especially in a wet environment. I strongly suggest you do not use the unit again until it has been professionally examined.
