electric shower not heating up properly

by dolly65 » Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:57 am

Hi, my electric shower is no longer heating up properly. It has to be on nearly the highest setting to be warm enough, and then the pressure doesn't seem to be up to much. The electrics appear to be fine (though i'm no electrician). There doesn't appear to be a problem with the water either as it does work.

This is a sudden thing - it used to be quite powerful and warmat a low setting. I've tested the water at the low setting and it is still powerful but just freezing...

Any ideas?

You'll need a new shower as the heater in the existing one has more than likely gone.

Many showers have a high and low setting which requires two elements sounds as if one has blown. New shower job. You may be able to get it repaired but that would involve two visits by an electrician which will more likely make it cheaper to get new one. I would ask the electrician first before buying one as you may be limited as to size.
