Electrical sockets in kitchens

What are the rules regarding the fitting of a new electrical socket near an electrical hob? What is the minimum distance required? Are there any other rules to be aware of?[/b]

IEE regs say no set distances from any of the above as long as the type of outlet is 'suitable for purpose' ie you could fit a socket above draining board if it was an ugly outdoor type but who would want to? 300 mm is a guide only but it makes sense!
