Fitting Showing Head Bracket Through Tiles and Plasterboard

by v-forty » Fri May 12, 2017 1:34 pm

I've just about finished tiling my bathroom, so will be fixing the shower head bracket and shower curtain rail back up in the next few days. Question is, do i need a wall plug for the screws to go into?

My internal wall is made up with:

metal stud frame
12mm plywood screwed to the frame
20mm concrete (waterproof) board screwed to the plywood
tile & adhesive on top of the concrete board, approx 5-6mm thick

I had been looking for long wall plugs, suitable for plasterboard type walls. However, I was advised in a proper-local-type DIY shop that the screws should grip on to the plywood and provide a firm fix for the bracket.

What would people recommend?
