Fixing a heavy timber window frame to brick wall

Post by boyishscorn » Thu Apr 22, 2021 1:02 pm

I am a complete DIY novice and we have just bought our first house so I've just joined this group. We have a lovely weathered heavy, thick timber frame window that was just collecting dust in the shed. I want to make this a garden feature and fix this to our garden brick and lime mortar wall. It's probably around 35kg. Any idea how I go about making the attachments and fixing to the wall? Thank you!!!

Hi boyishscorn
You seem to be describing fixing a window frame flat on a flat brick wall. If this is so you can either use long screws through the frame and into the wall or use metal brackets.
Either way screw into bricks not mortar lines.
