Hello!

I currently have neff 70cm wide 5 burner hob but it is being replaced by the insurance company with a 68.5cm Smeg hob. I just want to ask will a 68.5cm hob fit into where previously a 70cm hob was. I know it’s only a 2.5cm difference but I just want to be certain it will fit.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi sfawad,
Impossible to tell without detail measurements.
What is the actual size of the cut out; how much of a lipped edge is there on the new hob.
You may end up with a hob that only just fits and there is a gap on one or both edges.

You get an F for your maths.
70cm-68.5cm is 1.5cm difference, i.e 15mm & 7.5mm either side. I doubt the current hob is installed in a cutout just 8mm smaller on all sides than the edges of the hob. Confident it will be fine but i’m sure your insurer will accept it’s not an appropriate replacement if it doesn’t.
