gas supply pipe diameter increase

my father in law is thinking of having a new gas boiler insatalled and has been told that he needs to renew his supply pipe and increase it to 22mm dia. his house is only 20 yrs old.

is this true :?: :?: :?:

Yes - 22mm would be the minimum gas pipe size required.

there seems to be conflicting info coming from the plumbers when asked.

i.e. one will say, you only need to upgrade to 22mm if you are installing a combi boiler. another would say you need to upgrade no matter what sort of boiler you install.

which is true, please.

The second you will need a minimum of 22mm pipe for most new boiler installations some can be reduced to 15mm to within 1 metre of the boiler.
