Hanging A fire door

Post by ciscokidicantec » Wed May 01, 2013 1:26 am

Hi - I would like some details on hanging a 30 minute fire door such that it can take an intumescent strip with suitable hinges and where to place all 3 of them. Also how to install self closing mechanisms. What gaps should be between the door and frame taking into account the intumescent strip. What wood frame thickness is necessary.

Exactly where should the 3 hinges be placed from the top and bottom of the door and frame. Should there be a gap between the hinge 'knuckle' and the edge of the frame and door, or should the hinge be butted directly against the door edge for the mortising.
