Help Please With Pull Cord Nightmare

by Conrossmac » Sun Jan 05, 2020 1:22 pm

Hi. I have been trying to fix pull cord under my stairs for weeks now. No luck.

Fusebox and bulbs are fine. Tested both.

I have red wire in COM. Black wire in L1. Earth is taped at the end.

I have a slight worry that I can see bare earth wire up grey wire sheath for the three.

I also have a worry that I accidentally tried the black and red in the wrong ports at first. Could this have caused damage?

With the earth wire I tried attaching to a small bolt in the cord switch housing which I assume is for that reason?

Im completely out of ideas. Is it worth just buying a new switch? It seems to be clicking OK?

Your help is much appreciated.

No one fixes switches, for the cost of a new pull cord switch (£1.82 from tool station) change it.
