Hi,

I need to remove an area of concrete from the 1930s to lay a path. Not sure why the concrete is there but don't think it's too deep.

What's the difference between the demolition hammer and breaker on the HSS hire page?

Would one of those do the job?

I suppose it could work but I don't have a sledge hammer and the 10lbs one is £28 from Homebase vs. £40 for hiring a tool.

Would a pick axe help? Although I don't have that either.

You can hire a sledge hammer and crow bar from hss for about £15 for the weekend. Suggest you try these first to see how easily the concrete will break up. If these are unsuccessful you can always move on to something powered.

Hi,

I ended up buying a 10lbs sledge hammer. Man is that hard work. It's all up now but took my two days plus some, over two weekends.

Next is laying the slabs. Hope I'm doing it right :)
