Hot Water Venting into CH Header Tank When Turning Pump up?

by chrisneill » Fri Dec 16, 2016 11:49 am

Hi, hoping you can help. I have hot water venting (through the vent pipe) into my central heating header tank in the loft. If I turn the CH pump down to setting 1, this does not happen, but as soon as I switch to 2 or 3, it does.

I have used a CH cleaner that I put in the system and left for a week. I then drained the system and refilled it, putting in some inhibitor as well. I thought all was well as the system was not venting when on pump setting 2. But no surprises, later that evening it started venting again.

Logic says to me that there may be a blockage somewhere, but I need to be clear, my plumbing capabilities are minimal bordering on zero.

What would you suggest and will leaving it in this state for any length of time cause me bigger problems?

Thanks for your help
