How to Identify Stain or Leak From Upstairs Bathroom or Shower

by novicehere » Wed Feb 14, 2018 5:07 pm

Hello.
I was wondering if any of you on the forum can help with identifying a small stain on our kitchen wall we noticed a few weeks ago (pl see attached picture with the stain circled. The dark line above is where the wall meets the ceiling).
We have a bathroom on the 2nd floor which shares this wall (extended upwards). However, the kitchen itself has a flat roof above it – which joins the wall and I wonder if the stain could have been caused by a leak in the join between the flat roof and the exterior of the wall?
The bathroom itself is on the other side of the wall, above the living room – but the living room ceiling has no stains or leak.
I checked the toilet and wash basin for any obvious drips etc. but could not find any.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks much.
