How to install 8 LV ceiling lights?

by wamballa » Thu Nov 06, 2008 9:51 pm

Hi
I am interested to understand more about wiring 8 LV ceiling lights in my living room. I have taken down damaged ceiling and can see wiring is currenly like this:

I would like to modify existing lighting so that - no change to light switch 1(it still turns on light fitting1), change light switch 2 so that it turns on 8 LV ceiling lights. I believe the wiring would look like this:

Is this the correct way of doing it?

Cheers

I would consider normal low voltage GU10 lamps instead of extra low voltage lamps as:-
1) The inrush to so many transformers my trip a B6 trip.
2) Cold cathode lights will not work with SELV systems.
Do be careful in selecting fittings able to take the extra length of both LED and Cold Cathode lamps remember tungsten lamps are being phased out and in the future will not be available.
Also any junction box using screws has to be accessible Hagar do make special ones which can be used with a spring arrangement.
