INSTALLING IKEA MIXER TAPS

by oreallyoleary » Tue Jan 27, 2009 10:03 pm

How do you tell which is the hot connection or the cold connection of an ikea mixer tap (Ringskar) when there are no markings on the tap itself and nothing in the instructions.

Hi
I am not familiar with this particular tap but if there are no markings or instructions indicating otherwise I would presume the connections are interchangeable, which is usually the case. As a rule plumbers connect hot to the left and cold to the right facing the tap after it has been placed in position. Although there is a school of thought that the hot bath tap should always be fixed to the tap hole at the back of the bath to cut down the risk of children scalding themselves.
Best wishes.
