Internal damp patches

by p.bedford1 » Sun Aug 16, 2009 7:25 pm

Hello, this is my first post. I have noticed some damp patches on an internal wall in my house. I noticed before laying the flooring in this room that there was not much ventilation space beneath the floor boards and this may be the cause. The other alternative is that we have had some rainwater leaking in on the adjacent external wall. Is it possible that this may have spread across the room? If I have rising damp what are my options? Do I need to take plaster off my walls or is there any alternative to this? Cheers for any replies.

p.bedford1,
You should have air bricks around the outside walls of your house if you have suspended floors. Check these and make sure they are clear into the sub-floor void.
