Hi all, first post here, probably of many as we are renovating our house.
I've had the water shut off today both from the indoor stop cock and the outdoor one as well. The indoor stop cock has started to dribble, dripping every few seconds and this has been happening for a couple of hours. I'm concerned about turning on the outdoor stop cock now in case it gets worse.
From what I've read it is probably a gland problem that just needs tightening but the gland isn't nut shaped, it is circular with little teeth on it as if it used to be a circle and has had a sharp tool wrapped around it, see below.

Any ideas on how I can tighten it or is it a case of replacing it?
